The Lullaby of the Last Star

When all the others have burned out,
And darkness swirls and reigns throughout,
One final, tiny, trembling spark,
Sings softly to the endless dark.

A lullaby of what has been,
Of cosmic dawn and worlds unseen.
Then, with a gentle, fading sigh,
It closes its own sleepy eye.
