One yellow leaf, a sign of doubt,
I tried to learn what it's about.
More water? Less? A different sun?
My careful work has come undone.

It's not a grand or tragic loss,
Just this small life, this gathering dross.
But in this pot of dirt and dust,
Lies a small failure of my trust.
